Diagnostic Essay
This essay is meant to see how well you write a short 5 paragraph essay in a limited amount of time. No other assignment will be like this for the class. It must be completed and submitted in this first class and only in this first class.
It is not worth any points but really just an evaluation to see what you can do in this time and how you organize during the writing process. Some may find this assignment very easy and finish it before the class time is over others may organize and outline the entire class and hardly even begin writing the essay. Either way complete what you can and upload your work to this assignment to receive credit for being here and further classes will address any issues I find to help improve students work in writing essays.
This essay is to be about Generative AI and ChatGPT in College Essays. Form a 5 paragraph essay on this topic and use the essay “Can you Spot the Bot? Identifying AI-Generated Writing in College Essays” as a source. One of the authors is Tal Waltzer but there were other authors of this essay on the database as well. Use this source within your essay as best as you can and cite it as best as you can also. If you are unsure on how to cite a work just provide what you can.
After submitting this essay it will go through the Plagarism tool. Again don’t worry about the results but I did want to give students a chance to view this form and how it will generate your essays.
