Assignment: Article Project Plan – Submission Instructions Topic: “Does culturally tailored Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provide superior results in lowering symptoms of anxiety disorders and enhancing treatment engagement and retention among minority communities, in comparison to regular CBT?” Article Type: Clinical Review – RCT vs Systematic Reviews vs Meta-analysis (which ever yields the best search results. Goal: Preparation for writing a polished manuscript. Use AMA style and include (e.g., title page, page numbers, introduction, discussion, conclusion, citations/references, appendices): • Briefly state your topic and its significance. • Identify your target clinical audience (e.g., Primary care Providers, Hospitalist providers, Psychiatry providers). • Find the most appropriate potential journal to consider submitting your paper. Read the Journal Author Instructions. Who can be the first authors in this journal (i.e., Physicians vs Physician Assistants? Nurses? Certified Mental Health Providers? Social workers?) What writing style is required (AMA vs. APA, etc.)? What font size? What font type? Abstract required? Anything been published on your topic recently in the journal you selected? Your journal should support your chosen target audience. • Clarify; type of article (eg clinical review, CME, case report, etc.)? Required word count for the type of article you are writing? Does the reference page count in the word count? • Write a detailed OUTLINE of your article, including all major elements the journal’s author instructions require. For the article’s main body, include subheadings for the outline. Follow levels of headings according to AMA 11 ed. Style. • List one or two key tables or figures, that you may plan on creating, to emphasize key points or make the manuscript more concise and clear. • Include a reference page, and matching in-text citation. • Create Appendix 1, with a list your Advisory Committee Members (Dr. A Khan, department chair, Manuscript editing; Dr. H Wang, Hospitalist, Manuscript editing; Dr. M Bandera Psychiatrist, Psych subject matter expert etc, Kimberly Krause Psych RN, patient care expert, Manuscript reviewing) including name, credentials, current position and the main areas of expertise that they will lend to guide your project. • Create Appendix 2, to include a list of 8-10 references you have found and possibly plan to use for the final manuscript that you will submit later. All references must be formatted in AMA 11th ed. style
